Animals know how to survive in their own natural habitat, however the modern world is encroaching on their lives. This union presents animals with both positive and negative experiences, but ultimately asks the modern world, “How can we empathize with their plight?”
In my work, I create, animals that do the best they can to endure under the circumstances they find themselves in with determination, a certain flourish, and a sense of humor. These animal characters inhabit a color-saturated world of imagery culled from retro design, vintage children’s books, and catalogues of outdated products and technology. The silent, though animated animal-hybrid forms invite the viewer to connect and invent a narrative with animals as the protagonists.
My education includes a B.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute.
