Claudia Tennyson

Claudia Tennyson received her MFA from the California College of the Arts, where she focused on textile work, sculpture and installation. Her work with found objects and an increasing desire to connect with audience led to a series of interactive public art projects. One of her more long-term projects was called the Repair Project, which found her in turns repairing things on the street, being engaged in the repair of participants’ personal possessions, and offering hand-crafted remedies for psychic disturbances. Currently she is working on both a found poetry series from piles of discarded handwritten letters, and a focus on drawing. Her work has been exhibited at many Bay Area art venues including the Headlands Center for the Arts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the San Jose Museum of Textiles, and the de Young Museum, and abroad at the Soros Center for Contemporary Art in Prague, CZ. She is the recipient of public art grants from the San Francisco Arts Commission and Arts Link International and has held residencies at Djerassi in Northern California and at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha, Nebraska.
